INTERNATIONAL FOOD FAIR

What started out as a food fair became a dessert affair when the International Food Fair was held at the ground floor of the IT Building on
the evening of March 23, 2009. Fruit smoothies, Betty Crocker chocolate cake
slices, homemade cookies of all sorts and Japanese sweets were up for grabs to the
public. The 1920s “Our Gang” blackand- white movie was also shown through a LCD Projector during the entire fair, which the faculty children as well as the
faculty themselves enjoyed. The audience was presented with a nice surprise when
a group of MC students wearing cowboyhats, boots and plaid shirts danced a
Cowboy line dance, which delighted the crowd. This fair is an annual event organized by the International Club.

THAI CULTURAL FAIR

Mission College was in for a cultural treat when the Thai Cultural Fair took place at the ground floor of the IT Building on March 20, 2009. Upon entering the walkway, the public was greeted with booths promoting different aspects of
Thai culture; Hmong tribe, traditional foods and drinks, flower decoration, music and many more. What was also impressive were the minute details that the class took care of; the different Thai costumes that the students wore and the Thai-inspired decoration for each booth.

Fairs at MC campus

Last weekend, the Mission Heights campus activities were filled with a variety of fairs. Here’s a nugget ofeach fair that took place:

MARKET FAIR On March 19, 2009, the Open Market Fair opened its (invisible) doors to the public at 3 pm. Located in the parking lot in front of Ruth Hall, students and staff alike were seen selling a variety of things; clothes, food, second-hand books and even plants. The public was delighted when the popular Muslim restaurant people from Muak Lek came and sold roti banana (unleavened flatbread). The rain, unfortunately, came hard during the evening, so several stalls later took refuge inside the nearby hall. However, this did not stop the fair from operating.

The fair was organized by the Faculty of Business Administration. “Organizing this event allows Business students to practice what they learn in the class,” says Acharn Wanlee Putsom, one of the class organizers.
